Using Feh To Set A Background Image

Feh, like ImageMagick and xv before it, can be used to set a root image on your desktop. The syntax is simple:

$ feh –bg-scale /path/to/image.file

You can also do other things such as:

–bg-tile image.file

–bg-center image.file

–bg-seemless image.file

Easy!

OpenCDE-0.3.0 Debian Binary

I have compiled a new Debian binary for OpenCDE-0.3.0

Unofficial and unspported but it works fine on my system.

Should also work on any other Linux system. Make sure you have feh installed or it will crash on start up.

MWM Freezing With Xorg 7.5

Mwm will freeze with Xorg 7.5. If you use FreeBSD or a recent Ubuntu, you will notice this if you use the Motif Window Manager. A patch is aviable via the CVS of OpenMotif but until then add this line to your Xdefaults:

Mwm*keyboardFocusPolicy: pointer

This will also change Mwm to sloppy focus with the mouse, just in case that’s something that would annoy you.
